I am commanded by the Air Council to acquaint you,
for the information of Mr. Secretary Eden, that they have now
considered Porsign Office letter 7.883/2895/10 of the 12th
June, 1987, on the subject of the reported proposal for
stationing a Chinese officer at Singapore.
2. In reply I am to inform you that the Council are
in agreement with the conclusions reached by Mr. Secretary
Örneby Gore and by the Army Council in this matter, to the
effect that such an appointment would be open to serious
objections and should not be approved.
3. A copy of this letter is being sent to the Admiralty,
Far Office and Colonial Office.
